Health Insurance and Ambulance cover
Improved health and wellbeing has been a key strategic goal for the Thalanyji people for a number of years, identified as the highest priority in the 2014 strategic plan. A key component of this goal is health insurance and ambulance cover for all members.
This cover launched on 1st July 2016, with health insurance provided by Bupa and ambulance cover by St John’s Ambulance WA.
The health insurance cover we have engaged is with MediBank and they will provide Thalanyji Members with a very high level of cover. All Members are automatically covered, and are entitled to have a spouse and all children covered (you’ll need to contact MediBank and provide their details to begin their cover).

St John’s Ambulance
Since initially discussing ambulance cover with St John Ambulance WA, we have developed a partnership to provide ambulance services and training opportunities to our members and the Onslow region. We’ll be working with the St John Onslow team to bring more training and events over the coming months. Our Member's WA Ambulance services covered include:
- All emergency ambulance services i.e. people who are seriously ill or severely injured.
- Non-urgent ambulance services that are deemed to be medically necessary. People who need medical/surgical convalescent stretcher transport. Authorisation is required by a Doctor or Hospital.
- Inter-hospital transfers between two public hospitals will be arranged and paid for by the sending hospital. It is important to note that inter-hospital transfers, where one or both hospitals are a private hospital, are not covered by this policy.

Mental Health Care
All members have access to a 24/7 counseling service provided by Davidson Trahaire Corpsych. To speak to a counsellor, please call 1300 360 364. More details are available in our Member's Area.
Annual General Meetings
As required by the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) the Buurabalayji Thalanyji Aboriginal Corporation invites all of its members to meet once a year to formally report and discuss the activities of our Indigenous Corporation. The meeting serves as a platform for us to connect with the Onslow community and Aboriginal community members at large in the Thalanyji area.
As an ORIC sanctioned Aboriginal corporation, we follow strict guidelines to ensure good corporate governance and compliance with state laws. For more information about the role of the ORIC please visit their website.
